Catalogue Design


DAENA is a Scent Marketing brand based in Switzerland. The ask for this project was to create a catalogue that would be used to provide more information about the brand to more customers.


While it is common for people to connect scents with objects and people, I wanted to explore a different theme - Olfactory Synesthesia (associating smell with colour). DAENA is really big on evoking emotion through their fragrance, which you could say the same about looking at colours.


Fragrances typically have three layers of different notes. On the initial whiff of a fragrance, you could feel a sense of joy. After a couple seconds, you may feel a sense of calmness as you journey through the scent.


By using gradients, I felt that it would reflect that exact feeling of a scent journey - yellow for joy, blue for calmness. I decided to use gradients as a motif throughout the entire design paired with photo visuals to strengthen the theme.


Paired with simple Swiss-inspired design to match the already existing logo, this gives customers a visually pleasing and easy reading experience.
